Biography
Mozart Vieira is a distinguished Brazilian conductor, multi-instrumentalist, and educator born in Belo Jardim, Pernambuco. His academic background is extensive, holding a degree in Music with a focus on the transverse flute from the Federal University of Paraíba, where he studied under professor Gustavo Ginés de Paco de Géa. He also holds degrees in Mathematics and Sciences, alongside specialized postgraduate studies in Music Teaching Methodology. \n\nVieira gained significant national and international recognition for his social and educational work through music. He founded the Coral e Banda dos Meninos de São Caetano, an initiative that transformed the lives of many young people in rural Pernambuco. His life story and dedication to music education served as the inspiration for the 2008 biographical film "Orquestra dos Meninos," directed by Paulo Thiago, starring the popular Brazilian actor Murilo Rosa. \n\nThroughout his career, he has served as the chief conductor for various ensembles, including the Caruaru Pífano Orchestra and the Ulisses Lima Marching Band at the IFPE. As a professional musician and professor, he specializes in the transverse flute, guitar, and musical perception. He has been a pivotal figure in institutionalizing music education in Pernambuco, notably creating and implementing the degree program in Popular Music Interpretive Practices at the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE).
