Biography

Mú Carvalho, stage name of Maurício Magalhães de Carvalho, was born in Rio de Janeiro on June 8, 1957. He is a renowned composer, instrumentalist, pianist, keyboardist, arranger, and musical producer, having started his artistic journey in his teens by joining the group Semente alongside musicians such as Cláudio Nucci. In the 1970s, he joined Jorge Ben Jor's A Banda do Zé Pretinho, and later co-founded, along with his brother Dadi Carvalho and other partners, the famous instrumental and vocal band A Cor do Som.

Throughout his career, Mú Carvalho has stood out both in his own original production and by collaborating with major names in Brazilian music, such as Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Alceu Valença, and Moraes Moreira. He has also built a solid career as a creator of soundtracks for film and television, signing the musical production of numerous successful Rede Globo soap operas, in addition to releasing striking solo works such as the album Meu Continente Encontrado and the tribute album Trem das cores, dedicated to Caetano Veloso.
