Biography

Mutilator is an extreme metal band formed in 1985 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. They are considered an important part of the early Brazilian thrash and death metal scene, often mentioned alongside bands like Sepultura, Sarcófago, and Vulcano. The band's early sound was characterized by a technical style of blackened thrash, evolving over their initial run.

The band's history includes releasing several demos, such as "Grave Desecration" and "Bloodstorm," before issuing their debut full-length album, "Immortal Force," in 1987, which leaned more towards death metal. Their second album, "Into the Strange," released in 1988, returned to a thrash metal style and featured improved production standards for Brazilian heavy metal at the time. Despite critical reception and potential, the band faced challenges with promotion and eventually disbanded due to musical differences.

A reunion attempt in 2001 was tragically cut short by the death of guitarist Alexander "Magoo." However, the band has since returned to activities, with a new lineup continuing the Mutilator legacy. Their music remains influential and sought after by collectors of extreme metal.
