Biography
Muzak is a Brazilian post-punk and alternative rock band formed in São Paulo in 1984 by bassist and vocalist Osmar Buono, guitarist Nivaldo Campopiano, and drummer Victor Leite, who was later replaced by Regis Tadeu. The group stood out in the São Paulo underground scene by incorporating influences from British sounds and by participating in important phonographic recordings of the era.
In 1985, the group gained prominence when two of their songs were included in the famous compilation Não São Paulo, with "Ilha Urbana" pointed out as the main work of their trajectory. The following year, they signed with the record label EMI-Odeon for the release of their self-titled mini-LP, consolidating their space in the national alternative scene alongside contemporary names like Ciro Pessoa and Nasi.
The band's relevance extended internationally over the years, with the inclusion of their classic "Ilha Urbana" in compilations released in England and Germany. Recently, the trio's trajectory has once again sparked the interest of the public and the media due to the presence of their former drummer on television programs, keeping alive the memory of their contribution to Brazilian independent rock.
