Biography

Namorados da Lua was a Brazilian vocal group formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1941 and active until 1947. The group underwent four different formations, consistently led by Lúcio Alves, who served as the crooner, arranger, and guitarist.

Their debut public performance was in 1941, where they secured first place in Ary Barroso's talent show on Rádio Tupi. In 1942, they released their first 78 rpm record for Victor Records, featuring the songs "Vestidinho de Iaiá" and "Té logo sinhá," both composed by Assis Valente. Throughout their career, they recorded for labels such as RCA Victor and Continental, releasing numerous sambas and marches that became popular on radio programs.

Namorados da Lua played a role in launching the career of singer Lúcio Alves, who later achieved significant fame. The group's repertoire included songs by prominent Brazilian composers like Noel Rosa and Janet de Almeida, contributing to the rich landscape of Brazilian popular music during the 1940s. Their definitive dissolution occurred in 1947.
