Biography

Nandinho do Pandeiro is a singer, composer, and percussionist from Paraíba, Brazil. He emerged from Campina Grande, brought to the music scene in 1980 by Elba Ramalho, with whom he recorded albums and performed in various venues, including the renowned Canecão. After establishing himself, Nandinho pursued a solo career, collaborating with and composing for numerous iconic Brazilian artists such as Agepê, Julinho do Acordeon, Ademilde Fonseca, Carmélia Alves, Dominguinhos, Fúba de Taperoá, Trio Potiguá, and Os 3 do Nordeste, contributing significantly to the MPB landscape.

Throughout his career, Nandinho has released three CDs, including "Nandinho do Pandeiro, a Explosão Nordestina" in 1995, distributed internationally and still available for purchase online. This album features a repertoire largely composed by himself. In 1990, he co-founded the group 'Jabaculê' with percussionist Durval Pereira and vocalist Severo Gomes. The group achieved success in prominent venues across Brazil, particularly in Rio de Janeiro. Jabaculê was revived in 2001, performing a repertoire that celebrated the rich legacy of his idol, Jackson do Pandeiro, alongside classic forró hits.

Nandinho do Pandeiro's musical output is deeply rooted in the Northeastern Brazilian sound, with a particular homage to Jackson do Pandeiro, often referred to as "O Rei do Ritmo" (The King of Rhythm). His work showcases the vibrant rhythms and poetic traditions of the Nordeste, solidifying his place as a notable artist within Brazilian popular music.
