Biography

Nelson Faria is a renowned Brazilian guitarist, classical guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher, born in Belo Horizonte. Throughout his artistic career, he has built a solid international career that has led him to perform in over fifty countries and at the world's main jazz festivals, such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival. In addition to his extensive discography with dozens of released albums, he also stands out as the author of important educational books published in various countries and as the creator of the musical series Um Café Lá em Casa.

His musical training included periods of study in Brasília and the United States, where he attended the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and took lessons with great guitar masters. Back in Brazil, he settled in Rio de Janeiro and quickly integrated into the instrumental and MPB scene. Faria also worked internationally as a guest professor in Sweden, teaching at Örebro Universitet and collaborating with important European big bands.

Throughout his long career, Nelson Faria has shared stages and studios with prominent names in Brazilian and international music, collaborating with artists such as João Bosco, Toninho Horta, Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, and Leila Pinheiro. His versatility as an instrumentalist and arranger allowed him to participate in over two hundred recordings, consolidating his name as one of the fundamental references of the acoustic and electric guitar in jazz and bossa nova.
