Biography

The Brazilian thrash metal band Nervosa was founded in São Paulo in 2010 by Prika Amaral and drummer Fernanda Terra. Throughout its history, the group has undergone several lineup changes, most notably the addition of vocalist and bassist Fernanda Lira in 2011, a period when the band signed a contract with the Austrian label Napalm Records and released their acclaimed debut album, Victim of Yourself, in 2014.

Over the years, the band's sound evolved with the incorporation of death metal elements, driven by the arrival of drummer Luana Dametto. Following a significant lineup overhaul in 2020 — which led to side projects like Crypta — Prika Amaral restructured the group with new international and national members, later taking over lead vocals starting in 2023, solidifying albums like Jailbreak and maintaining a strong presence on global metal stages.

Nervosa's lyrics mostly address social issues in Brazil, such as corruption and politics, dialoguing with the tradition of national and international heavy metal. The band has built a solid reputation in the extreme scene, being influenced by major names in heavy music and sharing stages with important icons of the genre, such as Sepultura and Korzus.
