Nervoso e os Calmantes is a Brazilian rock band formed in Rio de Janeiro. The project began as a solo endeavor by André Paixão, also known as Nervoso, who was previously a notable drummer in the Brazilian underground scene, having played with bands like Beach Lizards, Acabou La Tequila, Matanza, and Autoramas. His solo career started in 2002, and the first album, "Saudade das Minhas Lembranças," was released in 2004. The band "Nervoso e os Calmantes" was solidified for the release of their second album in 2009, which bore the same name as the band.

The band's music is characterized by its blend of rock influences, often featuring introspective lyrics and a creative musical approach. Nervoso himself is the primary songwriter and vocalist, but he frequently collaborates with other musicians. Over the years, the lineup has seen some changes, with drummers like Sérgio Martin and Alê de Moraes contributing to the band's sound. Collaborations have been a key element, with artists such as Rodrigo Amarante (Los Hermanos), Nina Becker, and members of the band Canastra lending their talents to their recordings.
