Biography

Ney Azambuja was a Brazilian creative professional, lyricist, and musician, widely recognized for his contributions to both advertising and popular music.

Azambuja had a distinguished career in the advertising industry, working for numerous agencies in Rio de Janeiro, including L&M, MPM, SGB, Caio, Denison, Contemporânea, Young & Rubicam (where he served as Creative Director), and Oficina (where he was a partner). He was a recipient of numerous awards in Rio's advertising scene and was particularly fascinated by political campaigns, often taking breaks from agencies to assist in the election of candidates across Brazil.

In the music realm, Azambuja is remembered as a lyricist and collaborator with Tavito, most notably on the song "Rua Ramalhete." This song gained significant popularity, even competing in 2004 to become the symbol of Belo Horizonte. His musical endeavors also led him to co-author the poetry book "De Corpo e Alma" with Paulo Sérgio Valle in 1981. His passing was reported on June 8, 2024.
