Biography

Ney Conceição is a highly respected Brazilian bassist, composer, and arranger, born in Belém, Pará, on December 8, 1972. A self-taught musician, he began his career in his hometown, absorbing the rich Amazonian folklore and collaborating with local artists. Before relocating to Rio de Janeiro in 1996, Conceição had already amassed over 200 recordings in the Northern region of Brazil, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the local music scene.

Upon moving to Rio de Janeiro, Ney Conceição quickly integrated into the vibrant Brazilian music landscape. He has since performed and recorded with a vast array of renowned artists, including João Donato, Elza Soares, and Zé Kéti, among many others. His international career also took flight, accompanying artists like Sebastião Tapajós and Robertinho Silva on tours across South America, Europe, and the United States. His distinctive playing style, characterized by swing, rhythmic precision, and improvisational freedom, has made him a sought-after musician in both instrumental and popular music circles.

Conceição has released several acclaimed solo albums, such as "Ney Conceição" (2006), "Swingado" (2010), and "Alô, alô, interior" (2013), showcasing his compositional talent and masterful bass playing. He also formed the successful trio "Nosso Trio" with Nelson Faria and Kiko Freitas, releasing a CD and DVD. Furthermore, he has been a key member of João Bosco's band, contributing to albums and international tours. Ney Conceição's extensive discography and collaborations solidify his position as one of Brazil's most significant contemporary bassists.
