Biography

Nico Rezende is a renowned Brazilian singer, songwriter, and arranger who has made significant contributions to the national pop and MPB landscape. Born in São Paulo, he began his musical journey studying classical guitar, piano, and synthesizer techniques, initially performing with orchestras across the Brazilian countryside before relocating to Rio de Janeiro in 1983. In Rio, he established himself as a talented keyboardist, notably joining the backing band of British-born Brazilian pop star Ritchie and eventually contributing to iconic recordings by legendary acts such as Marina Lima, Gal Costa, and Roberto Carlos.

Throughout his prolific career, Rezende became a sought-after arranger and collaborator for top-tier Brazilian artists, working with major names like Lulu Santos, Cazuza, and Barão Vermelho. His versatility and skill as a keyboardist led him to step in for Barão Vermelho during the recording sessions for the successful film soundtrack of Bete Balanço, cementing his status in the rock and pop scene of the 1980s. He also collaborated frequently with iconic figures like Beto Guedes and Simone, shaping the sonic texture of multiple classic MPB and pop rock records of the era.

In 1987, Rezende released his self-titled debut studio album, which featured the hit single "Esquece e Vem," composed alongside Paulinho Lima and chosen as the theme song for Globo's telenovela O Outro. This success launched a prolific string of television soundtrack appearances, with songs like "Penso Nisso Amanhã" and "Finge Que Não Falou" featured in popular novelas throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Continuing to evolve as an artist, he has since released numerous acclaimed projects, including the piano and voice record that highlights his enduring musicianship.
