Biography
Nilo Romero Filho is a central figure behind the scenes and on the stages of Brazilian music, having built a solid career as a bassist, composer, and musical producer. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1960, he began his professional journey in 1982, joining the effervescent Brazilian rock and MPB scene that would dominate the charts in the following decades.
His most emblematic collaboration was with singer Cazuza, with whom he maintained a deep partnership. Romero was the musical director of Cazuza's final show and co-produced, alongside Ezequiel Neves, the iconic album "Ideologia". As a composer, Nilo is credited with writing classics of the national songbook, such as the song "Brasil", composed in partnership with George Israel and Cazuza himself. In addition to his work with the "Exagerado", he has produced records and played with fundamental artists such as Marina Lima, Kid Abelha, Paulinho Moska, and Ana Carolina.
Throughout his vast career, Nilo Romero has demonstrated versatility by moving between vigorous rock and the sophistication of contemporary Brazilian popular music. He was also responsible for producing albums by bands like Engenheiros do Hawaii and artists such as Paulo Ricardo and Leo Jaime. In 2013, he reaffirmed his commitment to the country's musical memory by directing the official tribute to Cazuza, consolidating his legacy as one of the great architects of modern Brazilian sound.
