Nilton César was born in Ituiutaba on June 27, 1939, and cemented his path as a prominent singer of Brazilian romantic music. He achieved great success in the 1970s, standing out nationally with the song "Férias na Índia", released in 1969, which sold over half a million copies and earned him several gold records and trophies. Throughout his career, the artist performed on the country's main stages and made appearances on traditional television shows, such as Programa Silvio Santos and Jovem Guarda.

Throughout his discography, which began in 1964 with his self-titled album on the Continental label and spanned decades with stints at labels like RCA Victor and Copacabana, he landed several other major hits. Among his most remembered recordings are tracks like "A Namorada que Sonhei", "Amor... Amor... Amor...", "Felicidade", "Espere um pouquinho mais", and "Amigo não".
