Biography
Nina Becker is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and set designer born in Rio de Janeiro. She began her artistic journey in music as a member of the band Orquestra Imperial, where she collaborated with various exponents of the contemporary Rio scene, while also working as an art director in cinema. Before launching her solo career, she was recognized by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) as best female singer and highlighted by specialized press as one of the most influential voices of her generation.
In 2010, she consolidated her songwriting profile by simultaneously releasing the albums Azul and Vermelho. The album Azul stood out for its minimalist and delicate sound, highlighting the artist's soft vocals and original compositions in partnership with names like Domenico Lancellotti and Marcelo Callado. In contrast, the album Vermelho opted for a noisier, experimental, and organic aesthetic, recorded live with Grupo do Amor and featuring reinterpretations and tracks of strong rhythmic intensity, with guest appearances and a repertoire by composers of her generation.
Throughout her career, Nina Becker has been a part of important albums by Orquestra Imperial and established prominent partnerships with major names in Brazilian music, such as Arnaldo Antunes, Pedro Luís, and Moreno Veloso. Her artistic versatility ranges from refined MPB interpretation to samba and pop experimentation, reaffirming her importance in the country's independent music scene.
