Biography

Nina Fernandes is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in São Paulo on September 3, 1999. She is recognized as one of the "new rising stars of MPB," having started her musical career early, composing her first song in English at the age of 15. Her journey in Brazilian music gained momentum with the encouragement of Nando Reis, following a chance meeting on a flight back from the USA, who motivated her to compose in Portuguese. Her first song in the national language, "Sem fim," caught the attention of Fernando Lobo, then general manager of the Som Livre record label, who encouraged her to pursue a career.

Fernandes released her debut EP, "Nina Fernandes," in 2017, featuring five original compositions. The single "Cruel," included on the EP, was featured on the soundtrack of the Rede Globo telenovela "Tempo de Amar" and achieved gold certification by Pro-Música Brasil, surpassing 20 million plays on Spotify. Her work is marked by the creation of playful and contemporary universes, with lyrics that explore feelings in a sweet and profound way. She cites influences such as Aurora, Florence Welch, Nando Reis, and Marisa Monte, as well as international artists like Charli XCX and Sevdaliza.

The artist also delved into popular singing and music production to enhance the creation process of her albums and EPs. In 2021, she released her first album, "amor é fuga: fuja," followed by "Bhangzwn" in 2024. Nina Fernandes has also collaborated with other artists, co-writing the song "Te procuro" for the duo Anavitória.
