Biography

Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Brito, better known as Ninha, is a Brazilian singer and percussionist, born in Salvador, Bahia, on August 28, 1959. Recognized as the "Golden Voice of Bahia" (Gogó de Ouro da Bahia), Ninha began his musical career at the age of 13, working as a percussionist and participating in afro blocks such as Juventude do Garcia and Leva Eu. His striking voice led him to join, in 1991, the group of timbal players formed by Carlinhos Brown, becoming the lead singer of Banda Timbalada.

With Timbalada, Ninha achieved great national and international success, popularizing catchphrases like "Zorraaaaa" and hits such as "Beija-Flor" and "Água Mineral". After 14 years in the band, in 2006, Ninha left the group and, alongside other former members, founded Banda Tribahia. Later, in 2009, he became the lead singer of Banda Trem de Pouso, a project he led until 2014, when he began his solo career.

Throughout his journey, Ninha has celebrated over 30 years of career, releasing albums like "Minha História" (2007) and "Dendê" (2006). He is an iconic figure of Bahian music and axé music, known for his contagious energy and for taking Afro-Brazilian culture to the world. In 2024, Ninha celebrated 50 years of career, demonstrating his vitality and relevance in the musical scene.
