Fernando Soares Pereira, known artistically as Nocivo Shomon, is a Brazilian rapper, songwriter, and artist born in Campina Grande, Paraíba, on November 20, 1981. He is recognized for his distinctive flow and rapid-fire rhymes, often referred to as "speed flow." Nocivo Shomon gained public recognition in 2007 with the release of his debut album, "Assim Que Eu Sigo." He is a prominent figure in the national hip-hop scene, known for his combative lyrics, critical stance on the music industry, and social and political commentary.
Nocivo Shomon's artistic journey began in São Paulo, where he was raised and initially exposed to hip-hop culture through graffiti and skateboarding, elements that continue to influence his aesthetic. The name "Shomon" itself is a nod to his admiration for Eastern culture and martial arts, which he frequently uses as metaphors for discipline and the daily struggles of urban life. He started his musical career in 2005, influenced by pioneers of Brazilian rap such as Racionais MC's, Gabriel o Pensador, Jorge Ben Jor, Sabotage, and RZO.
In 2019, he released the single "Babilônia 2," which quickly climbed the Spotify charts in Brazil and featured collaborations with artists like Rincon Sapiência and MV Bill. Nocivo Shomon also had a notable rivalry with fellow rapper Emicida, releasing the diss track "A Rua é Quem?" in response to Emicida's signature phrase. In recent years, Fernando has simplified his artistic name to Shomon, signifying a new phase in his career focused on personal growth and positive messaging. He has released several albums, including "Assim Que Eu Sigo" (2007), "Anjos e Demônios" (2017), and "Nova Criatura" (2023).
