Biography

Nyron Higor is a contemporary Brazilian composer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Maceió, Alagoas. He is recognized for his innovative approach to MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), skillfully blending traditional regional samba and folk elements with global influences and modern production techniques. His music often incorporates elements of jazz, EDM, funk, hip-hop, soul, and neo-psychedelia, creating a unique and dreamlike soundscape.

Higor's musical journey gained significant traction with the release of his instrumental debut EP, "Fio de Lâmina," in 2022. This self-released work garnered international attention and support from prominent DJs like Mr. Scruff, Gilles Peterson, and John Gomez. This success led to a signing with the esteemed Far Out Recordings label, known for its dedication to Brazilian music.

His self-titled sophomore album, released in early 2025, marked a shift towards more lyrical and expansive explorations. Higor describes the album as an act of resistance and a significant personal statement as a young Black man from Northeast Brazil. Collaborating with artists such as Bruno Berle, Batata Boy, and vocalist Alici Sol, the album delves into themes of transcendence, triumph, and political context, all while maintaining a deeply personal and intimate feel. His work is seen as a continuation of the rich legacy of Brazilian music, offering a fresh perspective for a new generation.
