Biography

O Teatro Mágico is a renowned Brazilian musical group formed in 2003 in the city of Osasco, São Paulo, created by Fernando Anitelli. The troupe stands out for integrating elements of circus, theater, poetry, literature, and popular songwriting in their performances, in which the members wear makeup and clown costumes. The artistic project established itself independently, winning over a large audience and breaking audience records at events such as the Virada Cultural in São Paulo.

Throughout its history, the group has released several striking studio albums, such as Entrada para Raros, O Segundo Ato, and A Sociedade do Espetáculo, in addition to expanding its work with projects like Grão do Corpo and Allehop. Their songs draw inspiration from the works of the German writer Hermann Hesse, especially Steppenwolf, reflecting a unique literary and theatrical aesthetic. The band's sound combines instruments such as acoustic guitars, electric guitar, bass, percussion, keyboards, and drums with body and circus performances.

The group has also made its presence felt on Brazilian television, participating in telenovelas such as Viver a Vida and Flor do Caribe, as well as programs like Altas Horas, where it shared the stage with renowned artists such as Ivete Sangalo. The band's independent stance and advocacy for the free distribution of music on the internet generated notable debates in the national artistic scene, contrasting with the views of figures like Rick Bonadio. The legacy of Teatro Mágico remains one of the most original and influential expressions of independent music in Brazil.
