Biography

Odete Lara was a prominent Brazilian actress, singer, and writer born in São Paulo. She began her professional journey as a secretary before embarking on a trailblazing path as one of Brazil's first fashion models at the Museum of Art of São Paulo, eventually transitioning into a celebrated television star and film actress.

In addition to her extensive acting career on stage, television, and film, she made a significant mark in Brazilian popular music. She performed in notable musical shows and recorded albums alongside legendary figures of Brazilian culture such as Vinícius de Moraes, Chico Buarque, and Sérgio Mendes.

Later in life, she stepped away from her artistic career to embrace Buddhism, settling into self-imposed seclusion in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. Her multifaceted life and cultural impact were later immortalized in the biographical film Lara.
