Biography
Old Chevy is a Brazilian rock and roll and rockabilly band formed in Campinas, São Paulo, in 2010. With a sound heavily influenced by 1950s and 1960s rock 'n' roll, the band moves through various styles such as rockabilly, punk, soul, and pop. Old Chevy is known for blending original compositions with reinterpretations of rock classics and "retro" versions of more recent songs, creating a unique sonic identity.
Since its foundation, the band has established itself as one of the most active in the Brazilian independent scene, accumulating around 2000 shows performed across the country. In addition to its expressive national presence, Old Chevy has expanded its international reach with tours in Europe and performances in the United States, including an appearance at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend in 2024. The band's recognition extended to its frontman and guitarist, Simon Lira, who was voted Featured Artist on the official Gretsch Guitars website in 2019.
Old Chevy's trajectory includes notable collaborations, such as the recording of a rockabilly version of the song "Janaína" with Biquini Cavadão, one of the icons of national rock. In 2021, they released the single "É Verdade Esse 'Bilete'", featuring lyrics by Bruno Gouveia (Biquini Cavadão) and guest vocals by Leo Jaime. Among their releases, the albums "On The Run" (2019) and "Heritage" (2018) stand out, alongside EPs and singles that reaffirm the band's versatility and talent in Brazilian rock 'n' roll.
