Biography

Maria Olívia Leuenroth Hime, artistically known as Olívia Hime, was born in Rio de Janeiro on June 25, 1943. At the beginning of her musical trajectory, she was part of a vocal group alongside Miúcha and Telma Costa, even performing in shows by major MPB names such as Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. Throughout her career, she established herself not only as a singer, but also as a lyricist and an influential music producer, besides being the co-founder of the Biscoito Fino record label.

Her work as a producer yielded projects of great cultural relevance, such as the album A Música em Pessoa (1985), which brought together poems by Fernando Pessoa set to music by composers like Edu Lobo, Milton Nascimento, Sueli Costa, and Francis Hime, to whom she has been married since 1969. Another milestone of her production was Estrela da Vida Inteira (1986), dedicated to the work of Manuel Bandeira and featuring participation from artists such as Gilberto Gil, Ivan Lins, Joyce, and Toninho Horta. In 2007, she released the project Palavras de Guerra, celebrating the repertoire of lyricist Rui Guerra with partnerships involving Chico Buarque, Carlos Lyra, and Edu Lobo.

As a solo artist and collaborator, Olívia built a striking discography that moves through the delicacy of Brazilian song, with standout albums such as Canção Transparente, Mar de Algodão, and the tribute Olívia Hime canta Chiquinha Gonzaga - Serenata de Uma Mulher. Her contribution to the preservation and dissemination of music and poetry in Brazil remains one of the pillars of her artistic and entrepreneurial trajectory in the phonographic sector.
