Biography
Orlandivo Honório de Souza, known artistically as Orlandivo, was born in Itajaí and moved to Rio de Janeiro in his childhood, the city where he consolidated his career as a percussionist, singer, and composer. He left his mark in the history of Brazilian music for his inventiveness, even using a keychain as a percussion instrument in his performances and recordings. Throughout his trajectory, he was strongly connected to the Bossa Nova movement and samba, acting as the crooner of Ed Lincoln's ensemble and collaborating with several renowned names from the country's musical scene.
His work as a composer yielded hits recorded by major interpreters such as Wilson Simonal, Jorge Ben, Elza Soares, Cauby Peixoto, João Donato, and Ângela Maria. In addition to his work on stages and in studios, Orlandivo also made his presence felt on Brazilian television and cinema, joining musical production teams and acting in comedic and musical productions. In the 1970s, he co-wrote the hit "Vou bater pra tu" in partnership with Arnaud Rodrigues, immortalized by the comedic project Baiano e os Novos Caetanos.
Even with the passing of decades, Orlandivo maintained his artistic relevance, releasing new works and revisiting his classic repertoire, as in the album Sambaflex, produced by Henrique Cazes. His legacy remains alive in Brazilian percussiveness and samba, being remembered as a multifaceted artist who influenced generations of musicians and contributed uniquely to Brazil's popular sound.
