Biography

Os Angorás was a Brazilian sertanejo trio that emerged in the late 1980s, known for their romantic ballads and upbeat country-infused tracks. The group was formed by Marcelo Meirelles, Itamar dos Santos, and Gavilan (Luís Carlos Teixeira Camino). Marcelo Meirelles, son of TV presenter Geraldo Meirelles, brought a strong connection to the sertanejo scene, having co-hosted the program "Canta Viola" for a decade.

Itamar dos Santos, originally from Rio Grande do Sul, was an experienced musician who had played in various ensembles before joining Os Angorás. Gavilan, from Santos, São Paulo, had a musical background rooted in church choirs and had also performed in various musical projects. Together, they aimed to bring a fresh sound to the sertanejo market, which was then dominated by duos.

Os Angorás released their debut LP in 1990, featuring successful songs like "Maluco por você," "Caminhoneiro," and "Pinha no pinheiro." Their second album further solidified their presence in the music scene with hits such as "Meu coração," "Prece ao vento," and "Cowboy do asfalto." The trio's music often blended traditional sertanejo elements with pop sensibilities, making them a popular act in the Brazilian music landscape.
