Biography
Os Canarinhos do Brasil was a sertanejo musical group formed in Palmas, Tocantins, in 2001. Conceived by Pereira, Feliciano, and Rafael, the trio sought to sing the "truth of traditional sertanejo." The initial lineup featured Feliciano, who, after a period away from music, was convinced to resume his career by his friend Pereira. The first song they sang together was "Saudade de Minha Terra," by Goiá and Belmonte, and the chemistry was immediate, reminiscent of classic duos like Belmonte and Amaraí, and Nenete and Dorinha.
The group gained prominence by participating in the TV show "Viola, Minha Viola," hosted by Inezita Barroso, in 2007, which boosted national recognition for the work of Os Canarinhos do Brasil. They recorded hits such as "Pode Gastar," "Chapéu Furado," and "Rabo de Saia." The group's name was suggested by radio broadcaster Clayton Aguiar, who added "do Brasil" to the name "Os Canarinhos" to give the project greater scope and identity.
The group ended its activities with the passing of Pereira, one of the founders, on February 4, 2014, a victim of liver cirrhosis. The journey of Os Canarinhos do Brasil is marked by a strong connection to traditional sertanejo music and by a dedication to bringing the culture and essence of Brazil's interior to the entire country.
