Biography

Os Carbonos is a Brazilian musical group formed in the early 1960s in São Paulo. The ensemble stood out on the national scene as one of the most important and active studio groups in the country, pioneering the recording of covers of major international and national hits. Throughout their trajectory, the members accompanied several renowned Brazilian music artists, such as Roberto Carlos, Nelson Ned, Gal Costa, and Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, in addition to recording thousands of songs and dozens of their own albums under different pseudonyms and projects.

The original lineup of the group featured brothers Mário Bruno Carezzato, Raul Carezzato Sobrinho, and Umberto "Beto" Carezzato Sobrinho, accompanied by other musicians over the years, such as guitarist Ricardo Fernandes de Morais, bassist Igor Edmundo, and drummer Antônio Carlos de Abreu. Initially known as Os Quentes, they were renamed by the Beverly record label without prior notice upon releasing an album of re-recordings. From then on, the group established itself as Os Carbonos, even producing cover versions with extreme speed and sonic fidelity, which marked an era in soap opera soundtracks and phonographic productions on Brazilian television.

With a prolific career spanning decades, the group also recorded advertising jingles and participated in parallel projects such as Magnetic Sounds and the creation of versions for successful soundtracks broadcast by Rede Globo. In 2019, the ensemble received tributes on television and was the subject of productions dedicated to rescuing its fascinating history within Brazilian pop. Through their intense work in the São Paulo studios, Os Carbonos left a unique legacy in the history of Brazilian popular music, dialoguing with major names of the era such as Terry Winter and Morris Albert.
