Biography

Os Opalas is a Brazilian samba-rock band formed in São Paulo in 2002. Founded by drummer Américo Rodrigues, the group has dedicated itself to promoting Brazilian music, known for its high quality and rhythmic diversity. The band's sound is a vibrant fusion of samba-rock, soul, jazz, groove, hip-hop, and reggae, often drawing inspiration from the urban culture and streets of São Paulo.

Over the years, Os Opalas has released several albums, including "Nossas Origens" (2008), "Mistura Cultural" (2013), and "Vem da Rua" (2018). Their music features original compositions and reinterpretations of classics from renowned Brazilian artists such as Jorge Ben Jor, Tim Maia, and Marku Ribas. The band has performed in major samba-rock and MPB venues in São Paulo and has shared the stage with notable artists like Bebeto, Sandra de Sá, and Luciana Melo.

In recent years, Os Opalas released the EP "Coragem" (2023), which marked the return of vocalist Ricardo Oliveira. The EP includes new original songs and continues to showcase the band's commitment to delivering energetic and danceable music that celebrates the rich heritage of Brazilian rhythms. Their mission remains to spread Brazilian music globally, highlighting its unique qualities and variety.
