Biography
Os Super Bacanas, also known as Conjunto Super Bacana or Superbacana, were a Brazilian musical group formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1970s. The band stood out for animating dances and clubs around the city, sharing the stage with other big names of the era, such as The Fevers, Renato e seus Blue Caps, and Painel de Controle. Their musical trajectory spanned the 1970s and 1980s, featuring a repertoire that mixed influences of rock, latin, funk, soul, and pop.
The group released their first record through the Polydor label in 1977, titled "Os Novos Reis Dos Bailes". One of their most remembered hits is the song "Melô da Pipa" (also known as "Tá Como Medo Tabaréu"). In 1979, they released the album "Show dos Bailes", followed by a 7-inch single in 1980 featuring the tracks "Chorar pra que" and "Fora de moda". The latter, in particular, later gained notoriety among DJs. The band's sound, heavily influenced by dance rhythms, established them as a reference in parties and events of the time.
Despite not having reached the same stardom as other contemporary groups, Os Super Bacanas left their mark on Brazilian music, especially in the scene of dances and national pop music of the 70s and 80s. The band is remembered for their energy and ability to animate the audience, contributing to the rich musical tapestry of the period.
