Biography

Os Terríveis was a rock band formed in Recife, Pernambuco, in 1964. In 1965, motivated by the success of Jovem Guarda, the members moved to Rio de Janeiro, initially adopting the name "Os Lordes". However, since there was already a group with that name, they opted for "Os Terríveis". The original lineup featured Heronildes Alves Ferreira (Nido Mall) on lead guitar, Beto on bass, Geo on saxophone, Nado on rhythm guitar, and Nando on drums.

In Rio de Janeiro, the group performed on radio shows such as those by José Messias and Célia Mara on Rádio Mauá, and on TV shows like "Rio Hit Parade" on TV Rio. They even accompanied Roberto Carlos on "É papo firme" and participated in Jair de Taumaturgo's show. In 1966, they released their first LP, "Os Terríveis – Hit parade", through the SBA label, which included international hits and cover versions of "A banda" (Chico Buarque) and "Devolva-me" (Renato Barros and Lilian Knapp). That same year, the LP "Onda Jovem" was released, also by SBA, featuring renditions of hits like "See You In September" and "Black Is Black", alongside "Namoradinha de Um Amigo Meu" (Roberto Carlos) and "Tijolinho" (Wagner Benatti). During the recording of the latter, Milton (Zé Colmeia) replaced Nado on rhythm guitar.

In 1967, Os Terríveis signed with Parlophone and released the LP "Barra Limpa". The lineup for this album no longer featured saxophonist Geo. The group explored a repertoire that blended national and international hits, reflecting the pop music scene of the era, with songs by artists such as Roberto Carlos, Martinha, Carlos Imperial, Herman's Hermits, and The Monkees. Although information about the band's end is scarce, Os Terríveis left their mark on 1960s Brazilian music, especially in rock and Jovem Guarda.
