Biography

Otávio Toledo is a Brazilian composer and instrumentalist, primarily known for his work in popular Brazilian music (MPB). Born in São Paulo, he began composing at a young age and participated in several MPB festivals in the 1970s, including the TV Bandeirantes Festival with his song "Adeus Fadas e Bruxas."

His most prolific songwriting partnership has been with lyricist J. C. Costa Netto, with whom he penned "Palavras do Coração" and "Caminho para o Interior," both of which became hits for singer Bruna Caram. Toledo has also collaborated with other notable artists such as Zeca Baleiro, Juca Novaes, and Murilo Antunes, the latter being a member of the legendary "Clube da Esquina" collective.

In 2006, Márcia Salomon recorded Toledo's song "Fundo Falso." The following year, Bruna Caram's debut album, "Essa Menina," featured exclusively songs by Toledo, including the successful "Palavras do Coração." His own self-titled album, "Otávio Toledo," was released in 2020, featuring collaborations with prominent musicians like Wagner Tiso and Toninho Horta, and reinterpreting some of his most recognized works.
