Biography

Marcelo Mendonça Rossi, widely known as Father Marcelo Rossi, was born in São Paulo on May 20, 1967. A Catholic priest, singer, and writer, he emerged as one of the biggest phenomena in mass culture and religious music in Brazil starting in the late 1990s, boosting the dissemination of Catholicism and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal through the media.

Before entering the priesthood, he graduated in Physical Education and served in the Army. After facing significant family losses, he reconnected with the Catholic Church and decided to dedicate himself to religious life, graduating in philosophy and theology and being ordained a priest in 1994. With a modern style that incorporates dancing and choreography in outdoor masses and radio and television programs, he drew historic crowds at events such as "Sou Feliz por Ser Católico" and "Paz Sim, Violência Não".

As a singer, he has sold millions of records and released highly impactful albums, receiving Latin Grammy nominations and achieving significant certifications with works such as the CDs Paz and Minha Benção. In addition to his musical career, he stood out as a writer of best-sellers like Ágape and Kairós, the proceeds of which were donated to the construction of the Mother of God Sanctuary. Throughout his career, he has shared stages and memorable moments with various icons of Brazilian music, such as Sérgio Reis, Agnaldo Rayol, Sandy, Junior, Chitãozinho & Xororó, and Roberto Carlos.
