Biography

The band Painel de Controle emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s, initially known as "Os Pacíficos." It was conceptualized by guitarist Paulo Rebello, also known as Paulinho Ovelha.

In 1975, Paulinho Ovelha departed, and the group reformed with new members, adopting the name "Painel de Controle." This iteration of the band released their most successful album, "Desliga o Mundo," in 1978, featuring the hit "Black Coco," which became the theme song for the Globo novela "Te contei?". Despite critical dismissal, the band is remembered as a significant Brazilian group of the late 1970s.

Although the band dissolved the following year, their music, particularly "Black Coco" and other romantic hits like "Malandrinha," left a lasting impression. The band's repertoire spanned various styles, including forró, axé music, and reggae, showcasing their versatility.
