Biography

Palmeira e Luizinho was a sertanejo duo formed by Diogo Mulero (Palmeira) and Luiz Raimundo (Luizinho). Considered the creators of "moda campeira", the duo stood out for their songs that portrayed rural daily life.

Formed in the mid-1940s, the duo recorded their first album in 1946 with the Continental label, featuring the songs "Cavalo Preto" and "Boiadeiro Bão". Throughout their career, Palmeira e Luizinho had the support of renowned songwriters like Arlindo Pinto and Anacleto Rosas Jr., and frequently performed accompanied by accordionist Zezinha.

The duo ended their activities in 1953, but left an important legacy for Brazilian sertanejo music. After the end of the partnership, Palmeira formed a duo with Biá, while Luizinho continued with Limeira. The influence of Palmeira e Luizinho can be felt in later generations of sertanejo artists.
