Biography

Panamericana is a Brazilian rock supergroup formed in 2011 by vocalist Toni Platão, guitarist Dado Villa-Lobos, bassist Dé Palmeira, and drummer Charles Gavin. The band was born out of a collaboration between Platão and Villa-Lobos following a tribute show at Rock in Rio IV, eventually expanding to include members from renowned groups like Legião Urbana, Barão Vermelho, and Titãs. Their musical concept centers on interpreting and recording classic rock and popular songs originating from various South American countries, particularly from nations such as Argentina and Uruguay.

The group's formation was catalyzed by discussions with Canal Brasil for a television project, shifting from initial ideas of covering English rock to exploring the rich musical landscape of South America. After early rehearsals and initial project shifts, the quartet debuted live in April 2013 at the Festival de Teatro de Curitiba, marking significant career returns for members like Toni Platão and Charles Gavin. This debut set the stage for their unique approach to inter-American musical exchange and performance.

In 2014, Panamericana released their debut album titled Sur, which solidified their artistic vision of bridging Brazilian rock sensibilities with broader South American musical traditions. Through their interpretations, they highlighted the work of artists from neighboring countries, establishing themselves as a distinct collaborative project in the Brazilian music scene. The band members brought vast experience from their respective iconic acts, including Hojerizah, Legião Urbana, Barão Vermelho, and Titãs.
