Biography

José Plínio Transferetti, known artistically as Paraíso, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and music producer, born in Elias Fausto, São Paulo, on June 1, 1947. Of Italian descent, his passion for music manifested itself from childhood, when he performed at local parties and on Rádio Cacique de Capivari. His artistic journey is marked by various country music duo formations, reflecting his dedication to the genre.

In 1967, he adopted the stage name Cristalino and formed the duo Cristiano & Cristalino, achieving first place at TV Cultura's Country Music Festival with the song "Nossa Mensagem". Later, he used the stage name Smith, forming the duo Smith & Scoth. In 1978, a new phase began with an invitation from Tião Carreiro to form a duo, at which point he adopted the name Paraíso. This partnership resulted in four LPs and consolidated his presence in country music.

Since 1986, Paraíso has performed in a duo with Mococa, forming the renowned duo Mococa & Paraíso, which remains active to this day. Throughout his career, Paraíso has also stood out as a songwriter, with a vast repertoire that includes partnerships with names like José Fortuna and Tião Carreiro. His contribution to country music is recognized, and he was awarded the Title of Citizen of Elias Fausto in 1997 in recognition of his career.
