Biography

Antonio Henrique de Lima, better known as Pardinho, was born in São Carlos on August 14, 1932. In his childhood, he moved to the Figueira Branca Farm and had his first contact with music around the age of twelve, when he received a cavaquinho during the coffee harvest festivities. Beginning his artistic journey under the name Miranda, he adopted the pseudonym that made him famous after winning a guitar player contest on Rádio Tupi in 1956, performing the cururu "Canoeiro" in partnership with Zé Carreiro.

Throughout his career, Pardinho achieved enormous national projection by forming the legendary duo Tião Carreiro & Pardinho, with which he recorded more than 45 albums. In addition to his most famous partnership, the singer also joined other duos throughout his career, singing with names like Peão Carreiro, João Mulato, and Pardal, with whom he recorded notable works such as the trilogy of Menino da Tábua and the album O Poder da Viola.

Pardinho passed away on June 2, 2001, in Sorocaba, a victim of respiratory arrest resulting from hypertension and a stroke, leaving an invaluable legacy for traditional sertaneja music. His cultural importance was posthumously eternized in 2007, when a park was named in his honor in his hometown of São Carlos, featuring performances by guitar players and musician Mazinho Quevedo alongside his son, Carlos Henrique.
