Biography
Passo Torto is an influential Brazilian MPB and avant-garde group, formed in the city of São Paulo by prominent musicians from the contemporary scene: Kiko Dinucci, Rodrigo Campos, Romulo Fróes, and Marcelo Cabral. The quartet established itself based on aesthetic affinities and prior partnerships among its members, who were already collaborating on their respective solo works. The group's first album, self-titled and released in 2011, stood out for its instrumentation focused on strings and for lyricism that explores the urban complexities of São Paulo.
The ensemble's trajectory was quickly recognized by specialized critics, earning Passo Torto the trophy for Best MPB Group at the Brazilian Music Award in two editions: 2012 and 2014. Over the years, the group expanded its sonic and collaborative boundaries, joining forces with the acclaimed singer Ná Ozzetti for the release of the album 'Thiago França' in 2015, reaffirming its central role in the renewal of Brazilian music over the past decade.
The members of the collective are also known for other fundamental projects in current Brazilian music. Kiko Dinucci is a member of Metá Metá alongside Juçara Marçal and Thiago França, while Marcelo Cabral is a sought-after producer, having worked on seminal albums such as 'Nó na Orelha' by Criolo. Rodrigo Campos and Romulo Fróes maintain prolific solo careers that constantly engage with samba and experimental song.
