Biography

Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Paula Santoro is a Brazilian singer whose music is deeply influenced by the Clube da Esquina movement. Her grandfather, a violinist, fostered her love for music from a young age, and she began singing at family gatherings. Santoro's formal musical journey started in 1989 with the vocal group Nós & Voz, which led to her discovery by violinist Marcus Viana, leader of the progressive rock band Sagrado Coração da Terra.

In 1998, Santoro relocated to Rio de Janeiro, marking a significant step in her career. She gained international exposure performing at the Brahma Brasil Festival in France, sharing the stage with Gilberto Gil. Her participation in the Novo Canto project in 2000, alongside artists like Elza Soares and Chico César, further solidified her presence in the Brazilian music scene. Her voice was also featured in the popular TV Globo soap opera "Aquarela do Brasil," reaching millions of viewers.

Santoro's professional maturity was recognized in 2002 when she was a finalist for the Visa Music Award. Her career has since expanded internationally, with solo tours in Europe and performances in the United States, Asia, and Russia. She has collaborated with numerous renowned Brazilian artists, including Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, and Toninho Horta, and her albums have consistently received critical acclaim both domestically and abroad.
