Biography

Paulo Roberto Corrêa, better known as Paulinho da Aba, was a renowned Brazilian samba singer, composer, and percussionist, born in Rio de Janeiro on March 1, 1945. He gained notoriety and his nickname from the composition "Na Aba", written in partnership with Ney Silva and Trambique, which became a huge success in the voice of Martinho da Vila.

Paulinho da Aba began his musical career in the 1950s, participating in amateur talent shows. He became an exceptional tambourine player, an instrument that consecrated him on stages and in studios. His skill with the tambourine was heard on recordings and shows of great samba names, such as Beth Carvalho, Clara Nunes, João Nogueira, and Martinho da Vila himself, with whom he maintained a long and prolific partnership.

In 2015, he released his first solo album, "Onde o Samba Mora", an original recording that featured special guests and included compositions like "Garoa" and "Falam de Mim". Paulinho da Aba passed away on September 26, 2017, at the age of 72, as a result of a stroke, leaving an important legacy for Brazilian popular music, especially in the universe of samba.
