Biography

Paulinho Moska, born Paulo Corrêa de Araujo in Rio de Janeiro, is a renowned Brazilian singer, songwriter, and actor. Growing up immersed in the vibrant musical culture of Rio, his early influences were shaped by legendary artists such as Hermeto Paschoal, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Gal Costa, whom he watched perform at the prominent nightclub managed by his father. After training in theater and cinema at the Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras, Moska began his professional musical journey in the mid-1980s with the vocal group Garganta Profunda, later co-founding the successful pop-rock band Inimigos do Rei in 1987, alongside musicians like Luiz Nicolau and Luis Guilherme.

Leaving the band in 1992 to pursue a solo career, Moska established himself as a prominent voice in Brazilian popular music, writing numerous hits featured in telenovela soundtracks and recorded by celebrated interpreters such as Marina Lima, Maria Bethânia, Ney Matogrosso, and Lenine. His distinctive songwriting and expressive vocal delivery earned him widespread critical acclaim and major commercial success, including landmark solo albums and television hosting roles on programs like Canal Brasil's Zoombido. Over the decades, he has also cultivated strong artistic connections across South America, collaborating extensively with international musicians such as Jorge Drexler and Fito Páez.

Beyond his achievements as a recording artist and touring musician, Moska has maintained a parallel career as an actor, appearing in numerous Brazilian films and television series, including works directed by Jorge Duran, Cacá Diegues, and Ruy Guerra. His multifaceted artistic contributions continue to cement his legacy as one of the most versatile and respected figures in contemporary Brazilian culture, bridging genres from MPB and rock to Latin American folk.
