Biography

Paulo "Paulinho" Tapajós Gomes Filho (August 17, 1945 — October 25, 2013) was a renowned Brazilian songwriter, singer, music producer, writer, and architect. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Paulinho was the son of fellow musician Paulo Tapajós and the brother of Maurício Tapajós and Dorinha Tapajós, both artists. He grew up in a musical environment, frequently visiting Rádio Nacional from an early age, where his father was artistic director, and socializing with major names of the era.

His musical career took off in the 1960s after participating in the "Música Nossa" project. Paulinho stood out in various music festivals, such as the III and IV International Song Festival, where his compositions "Andança" (in partnership with Edmundo Souto and Danilo Caymmi) and "Cantiga por Luciana" (with Edmundo Souto) achieved great success and national and international recognition. In addition to being a songwriter and singer, Paulinho Tapajós also worked as a music producer, working with artists such as Jorge Ben Jor, Vinícius de Moraes, and Toquinho, and produced soundtracks for television soap operas.

Alongside his musical career, Paulinho Tapajós graduated in Architecture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1971, demonstrating his versatility. His work as a writer is also notable, with more than ten children's books published. Paulinho Tapajós left a significant legacy in Brazilian popular music, with his compositions being interpreted by countless artists and marking generations.
