Biography

Paulo Bellinati was born in São Paulo on September 22, 1950. He began his journey on the acoustic guitar in childhood under his father's guidance, subsequently taking classical guitar lessons with Isaías Sávio and completing his education at the Dramatic and Musical Conservatory of São Paulo. Between 1975 and 1980, he lived in Switzerland, a period during which he refined his studies at the Geneva Conservatory and worked as a teacher at the Lausanne Conservatory.

Throughout his career, the guitarist and composer has been part of both the original and current lineup of the group Pau Brasil, in addition to building a solid discography both solo and in partnerships. Among his most prominent works are the albums "Garoto", "Violões do Brasil", "Serenata - Choros & Waltzes of Brazil", "Afro-Sambas" in collaboration with singer Mônica Salmaso, "Pingue-pongue" with Cristina Azuma, and "Xodós" with Marco Pereira. As a composer, he achieved great international prominence by winning the Carrefour Mondiale de la Guitare in 1988 with the piece "Jongo", which became his most famous composition and has been recorded by several renowned guitarists.

As an arranger and instrumentalist, Bellinati has collaborated with important names in Brazilian music, such as Edu Lobo, Gal Costa, Leila Pinheiro, and Vânia Bastos. He has also worked as an educator, teaching guitar classes at the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival. His contribution to the Brazilian acoustic guitar has solidified his name as one of the great exponents of the instrument on the national and international scene.
