Biography

Paulo Graça Mello was a Brazilian actor, singer, presenter, and producer, with a career spanning theater, cinema, and television. Born in Rio de Janeiro on March 11, 1938, he was the son of actor and director Graça Mello and brother of director and producer Guto Graça Mello. He began his acting career in 1959 after graduating in Theater.

Mello was a key figure in the early days of TV Globo, co-founding the network in 1965 alongside his father, who became the first General Director of Talent. His theatrical work included numerous plays and musicals, both in Brazil and Portugal. He also appeared in films, such as "Rifa-se uma Mulher" (1965), and various television programs and telenovelas, including "A Moreninha" (1965).

Beyond his acting and production work, Paulo Graça Mello also lent his voice to TV commercial jingles for brands like "Yuky-Toddy Néctar de Fruta" and "Coca-Cola." He was married to dancer Lídice and later to Lygia Maria Ramos Fagundes, with whom he had a son, João Cláudio. His first marriage was to actress Marília Pera, with whom he had a son, Ricardo Graça Mello, who also became an actor and singer. Paulo Graça Mello tragically passed away on October 10, 1969, in a car accident in Rio de Janeiro.
