Biography

Paulo Fernando Monteiro Molin was born in Recife on January 2, 1938, and solidified his trajectory in Brazilian music as a singer and journalist. He began his artistic career in the 1950s as a contracted artist of Rádio Tamandaré, where he interpreted works by the renowned composer Capiba, and quickly had his recordings broadcasted by radio stations in Pernambuco and other northeastern states. Due to his early and striking talent, he gained great notoriety at the time, being affectionately nicknamed the "Radio boy wonder" and considered by many to be the "New king of the radio".

Over the years, he moved to the Southeast region of the country, where he joined the cast of the historic Rádio Nacional in Rio de Janeiro and later went to São Paulo. In addition to his strong presence on the microphones and in recording studios, he expanded his artistic work by joining the cast of the film "Zé do Periquito", starring Amácio Mazzaropi. Among his greatest hits are striking songs such as "Serenata Suburbana", "Olinda, cidade eterna" and "Recife, cidade lendária", all composed by Capiba, in addition to also authoring the track "És a luz do meu olhar".

In the final years of his life, he took up residence in the Minas Gerais city of Guaxupé, where he continued his musical career and practiced journalism at the newspaper "Folha do Povo". Due to the strong affective and cultural bond built with the local community, he was awarded the title of citizen of Guaxupé, the city where he passed away on August 26, 2004, leaving an indelible legacy in the history of song and radio in Brazil alongside great names of the era.
