Biography

Pavilhão 9 is a Brazilian rap rock band formed in 1990 in the neighborhood of Grajaú, in São Paulo, known for their strong political and social lyrics that address themes such as police violence and the problems of the outskirts. The group gained notoriety in the early 1990s with the release of their first album, "Primeiro Ato", and consolidated their heavy sound by mixing the traditional format of DJ and MCs with band instrumentation, including guitars, bass, and drums. Throughout their trajectory, the band faced controversies with authorities and generated great repercussions with records like "Se Deus Vier, Que Venha Armado" and "Cadeia Nacional", featuring notable collaborations from various icons of the Brazilian music scene.

The band established heavy partnerships and collaborations with renowned names in national and international rock and rap, including appearances by João Gordo, Igor Cavalera, Max Cavalera, Marcelo D2, Marcelo Falcão, and Black Alien. With performances at major festivals such as Rock in Rio and Lollapalooza Brazil, Pavilhão 9 remained active for decades, renewing their lineup and releasing praised works such as the albums "Público Alvo" and "Antes Durante Depois", in addition to partnerships with groups like Detonautas and BaianaSystem.

Even with comings and goings and changes in their lineup over the years, with members like Rhossi and Doze leading the vocals, Pavilhão 9 continues to be a central reference in the fusion of rap and heavy rock in Brazil. The band keeps their essence of protest and cultural intervention alive, dialoguing with new generations and actively participating in the country's independent and alternative scene.
