Biography

Pedro "Pedrinho" Figueiredo is a highly respected Brazilian flutist, saxophonist, arranger, and producer, known for his significant contributions to instrumental music, particularly within the context of Rio Grande do Sul's musical landscape. Born in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Figueiredo has been based in Porto Alegre since 1981, becoming an integral part of the city's vibrant music scene. His career is marked by a prolific output, having recorded approximately a thousand songs across over 450 albums in various formats, and also working as a recording engineer and music producer on around 250 projects.

Figueiredo's musical journey includes extensive participation in the nativist music festivals of Rio Grande do Sul, such as the renowned Califórnia da Canção Nativa. He has been a long-standing member of the Renato Borghetti Quarteto for over 30 years, performing internationally and solidifying his reputation as a versatile instrumentalist. His discography features solo works like "Primeira Impressão," which includes original compositions and reinterpretations of established artists like Gilberto Gil, and collaborative projects such as "Jogo de Peteca" with pianist Paulo Dorfman. His arrangements have also graced numerous chamber, symphonic orchestras, and bands, bridging popular music with concert halls.

Beyond his performance and production work, Pedrinho Figueiredo has also ventured into sound design for theater and cinema and acts as a consultant in acoustics and sound engineering. He has been recognized with multiple awards, including six Prêmio Açorianos for Best Instrumentalist and Best Music Producer. His dedication to preserving and promoting musical heritage is further evidenced by projects like "Toque Show," a talk show format where he interviews and performs with fellow musicians, aiming to document the rich musical memory of Rio Grande do Sul. Figueiredo's influence extends to his role in coordinating the Choro Jazz Festival of Jericoacoara and his participation in the "Coletivo Músicos Online."
