Biography

Pedro Martins is a prominent Brazilian musician and composer born in June 1993, recognized as one of the most creative names in the contemporary jazz scene. He began his musical journey at the age of six playing acoustic guitar by ear, later joining choro and rock groups. A versatile self-taught artist, in addition to mastering the acoustic and electric guitar, he also sings and plays the piano, bass, and drums.

Throughout his career, Martins has accumulated collaborations with great icons and instrumentalists of Brazilian music, such as Milton Nascimento, Gabriel Grossi, Léo Gandelman, and Hamilton de Holanda, the latter being the producer of his acclaimed debut album, "Sonhando Alto/Dreaming High", released in 2012. In 2015, he achieved international prominence by winning the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival guitar competition, which led him to tour worldwide as part of guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel's Caipi project.

His original work engages deeply with traditional Brazilian genres, especially choro, blending with influences from jazz, fusion, and progressive rock. Martins continued to expand his discography with collaborative projects, such as the album "Simbiose" (2016) alongside Daniel Santiago and the work "Cumplicidade" (2020) with Michael Pipoquinha, in addition to featuring illustrious guest appearances by artists like Toninho Horta and Mônica Salmaso.
