Biography
Pedro Viáfora is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and journalist born in São Paulo in August 1989. He grew up immersed in the musical universe, influenced by his father, the renowned singer and songwriter Celso Viáfora. His journey in music began at age 15 as a lyricist, and soon expanded to composing melodies, marking the beginning of his solo work.
In 2009, Pedro Viáfora co-founded the project 5 a Seco, alongside Vinicius Calderoni, Tó Brandileone, Pedro Alterio, and Leo Bianchini. The group quickly achieved success, with sold-out performances and the recording of their first CD/DVD in 2011, released the following year. This phase allowed Pedro to share the stage with major names in Brazilian music such as Maria Gadú, Lenine, and Chico César, in addition to featuring guest appearances by Dani Black and Ivan Lins. The work of 5 a Seco was recognized by critics, becoming a finalist at the Brazilian Music Award in 2012 in the "Best MPB Group" category.
In addition to his trajectory with 5 a Seco, Pedro Viáfora has developed a notable solo career, releasing his first studio album, "Feliz Pra Cachorro", in 2013. He has also collaborated on projects with his father, Celso Viáfora, exploring the reinterpretation of MPB with social and poetic commentary. His sensitivity as a songwriter of São Paulo's MPB scene was highlighted in series such as MINIDocs, where he shared his composition processes and music as a tool for revelation and connection.
