Biography

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, universally known as Pelé, was a Brazilian professional footballer and arguably the greatest player of all time. Born in Três Corações, Minas Gerais, on October 23, 1940, Pelé's extraordinary talent on the pitch was evident from a young age. He began his professional career at Santos FC in 1956, where he spent the majority of his playing days, leading the club to numerous titles, including two Copa Libertadores and two Intercontinental Cups.

Pelé's impact transcended the sport of football. He became a global icon, renowned for his skill, sportsmanship, and charisma. He is the only player to have won three FIFA World Cups, captaining Brazil to victory in 1958, 1962, and 1970. His prolific goal-scoring record, with over 1,000 career goals, is a testament to his enduring legacy. Beyond his achievements on the field, Pelé was also a cultural ambassador for Brazil, promoting the sport and his country worldwide.

While primarily celebrated for his football prowess, Pelé also ventured into music. In 1969, he gave a historic statement to the MIS (Museu da Imagem e do Som) which resulted in an LP released by the museum itself. In 1970, parts of this statement were re-released on a single through Revista Manchete and CID Records, also featuring the narration of his thousandth goal. In 1979, he released a single with the songs "Criança" and "Moleque danado," both of his own authorship. His musical endeavors, though less prominent than his football career, further illustrate the multifaceted nature of this Brazilian legend.
